This is a service call for the customer who has a few or 10 or less windows to be cleaned possibly for an up coming family gathering or a party.  For example, a customer may need 2 large picture windows to be cleaned for a birthday party.  A minimum charge of $85 applies.  Light fixture cleaning, ceiling fans, interior ladder work, chandeliers and other specialty items apply here as well.

If you could please move any pictures, figurines or breakables away from the windows furniture as well. Day Star techs will be available to assist in moving heavy furniture if needed. Please pull back sheer curtains as best you can. Thank you for your assistance in providing our techs with clear access to your plates.

Day Star books many Pressure Washing jobs over the phone and if we make any adjustments to the price it will be after we arrive and do our walk around. For full cleaning jobs we give an hour window for our technicians to arrive, we will notify the customer if there are any schedule changes.

Most pressure washing prices are based on square footage.

DSW will pressure wash a variety of exterior surfaces.  Most common for residential customers are the exterior of houses and garages, including brick, stucco and vinyl siding.  DSW will give your house or garage that much needed bath… removing all the dirt, mildew, and mold that has set in over time!  We also pressure wash patios, fences driveways, and are certified Wolman contractors when it comes to all types of decks, wood or composite!  Commercial customers also can take advantage of our pressure washing services.  Please ask us about any pressure washing needs that you may have.  Chances are very good we can clean it for you!!

Half payment will be received after pressure washing, then the other half after the staining.

Day Star Deck Service has been certified by Wolman, the leader of wood preservation for over 80 years.  Many will recognize the name, Wolman from the process for pressure treating lumber known as Wolmanized lumber.  Day Star Deck Service uses all Wolman products in our application.  We are ready to be your wood care specialists today!

Let’s get started!  The first step is to prepare your wood.  Prior to protecting or sealing your deck or wood structure, we first need to prepare the wood.  In essence we need to exfoliate the top layers of the wood, cleaning and removing dirt, mildew and those grayed fibers.  After we clean and prepare your deck or wood structure we can now focus on beautifying and protecting it.   This is where we apply our high performance preservative coating that penetrates the wood protecting it from sun damage, moisture damage and insect breakdown.  The final result is your deck or other wood structure is restored to it’s clean like-new appearance!

Pricing. Our pricing is based on square footage. This includes rails, benches, steps, stairs, 4x2 posts, 4x4 posts, header boards, and main supporting beams.

Average charges start at $1.00 per sq ft. for cleaning and staining. Rails $1.50 per sq ft (most rails avg 2.5-3.5 sq ft. ea.). Stripping existing paint or stain charges range from $2.25 and up. Note, stripping existing stain or paint off and outdoor structure can be very labor intensive therefore prices will be adjusted accordingly.

Wood repair and materials will be factored in estimate as needed. If customers have extensive wood rot, a deck builder may be needed before Day Star Deck Service will be able to properly clean and preserve and existing deck or outdoor structure.

Customer should be prepared to move all items off deck prior to us arriving to clean deck. Plants will be covered by our technicians but some very brittle plants may experience damage and may need replacing by customer. Watering of plants will be a constant throughout cleaning process as to insure all cleaning products are washed off plants. Day Star Deck Service uses all environmentally friendly products, as well as low pressure cleaning system to safely remove dirt. Grills should be removed off decks before cleaning is started and should not be rolled across wet untreated wood as they may create grooves in wood.

Can my deck be cleaned and stained in one day?

Answer: Our products allow for cleaning and coating in one day but this is not the norm. Smaller decks, those 500 sq ft or less are best candidates. The wood surface needs only to be 80% dry for us to begin coating, however weather and other factors can put a damper on cleaning and coating in one day. Customer need to remember what we do is wood care, that means rushing the job and cutting corners is not how we perform quality work. Day Star Deck Service will take the appropriate time needed to make sure our customers deck or other outdoor structure is properly cleaned and preserved, insuring years of enjoyment to come.

Does my deck need to be cleaned and sealed even though it is all ready green treated?

Answer: Yes, green treated lumber or also known as pressure treated lumber was developed by our partner Wolman to protect against insect damage, however the wood still needs protection against sun damage and moisture damage.

Can I clean my deck without using a proper cleaner and expect quality results?

Answer: This is a big misnomer, especially amongst those who think cleaning a deck only requires a pressure washer and a sunny day. To properly remove dirt, mildew and grayed fibers it is essential that you use a quality cleaner or deck and fence brightener. By using only a pressure washer you will not be able to penetrate the unique molecular structure of wood, and your sealant or stain will likely wear off in a few months. To avoid this mishap, rely on us, your local wood care specialists!

I am thinking of building a composite deck.is it really maintenance free as it was advertised to me?

Answer: If you are thinking of building a deck, consider building with a good wood such as cedar or a good pine or even pressure treated lumber. Composite decks are sold to be maintenance free, however if you really examine these products they are made of wood and plastic pressed together, and they do need to be cleaned on regular basis. They are subject to UV damage and water damage creating mold or mildew. There is also a problem with breath ability and drainage. Wolman is looking to develop new sealants to protect composite decking, we are more than willing to clean your composite deck for you. In our expert opinion, a good wood deck properly cleaned sealed and maintained by us, your Wolman contractor is the best way to go!

Should I believe companies claims who offer to clean and stain my deck with the warranty of 10 –15 years?

Answer: When considering cleaning and staining your deck, hire a company who understands wood care and offers regular wood maintenance. Some companies are offering inflated warranties. Make sure you're simply not buying empty warranties, rather choose wood care specialist like Day Star who understands the importance of professional regular maintenance.

How often do I need to pressure clean and stain my deck?

Answer: Decks need to be maintained. We recommend every 3-4 years after the pressure cleaning and staining to ensure the longevity of your deck or fence. Some patios can be cleaned on a yearly basis.

Answer: Deck maintanace is essential to maintaining the lifespan of your deck. By cleaning and keeping it maintained you could expect to enjoy the use of your deck as well as the increased value it brings to your property for many years. The downside to not cleaning your deck is that the wood will begin to break down more quickly and may potentially negatively affect your property value.
