Our service company meets the standards of our industry in quality, and we strive to exceed the customer’s expectations in character as well. Character is key from top to bottom in our company from the owner to the employees. Our employees communicate well the ideals of our company, they show themselves not only to be well trained and hardworking but respectful and polite. It’s our purpose at DSW to meet the window cleaning and other service needs of our consumers. By presenting ourselves in a professional and personable manner we ensure a lasting and trusting relationship with our clients and perspective customers.
History
The Day Star business idea began when Mr. McKernan was a young man looking for a personal adventure out in Northern California in 1998. Experiencing the beautiful countryside and the endless possibilities brought him to the opportunity to start his own business and to learn a new trade. Window cleaning came to his attention while he was staying about 20 miles from a ski resort.
He was staying at a house in the mountains and noticed that the windows were covered in pinesap. So as a good deed he cleaned the windows, and there were the beginnings of a professional window cleaning company. Then it dawned on him, that he could start his own business cleaning windows professionally. He decided to call several different window-cleaning companies in the San Francisco bay area. Where he had a conversation with a man who gave useful information. He followed his instructions and attained his business license and insurance. By using his resources, he was able to put out flyers and worked the business up and down the mountains.
His personal life took him to Ohio and still in the back of his mind he wanted to pursue his window cleaning business. And this is where Day Star began. He worked with different professionals and was able to get training and attend industry conferences. Finally he saw an opportunity for future expansion. But he found it smarter to start in a smaller demographic, and to work his way up one day to enter a larger demographic. He has been pursuing this the past 4 years here in his home state of Iowa concentrating in the Ames and Des Moines area. His future goals are to continue to develop and expand his business in the Central Iowa area and to eventually venture into other expanding markets.
